HEART GAU心匣 · Wearable Thangka
Miniature sacred painting · made to be worn
Wearable thangka brings the visual discipline of Himalayan painting into a personal scale—an intimate object to study, carry, and treasure.
A traditional thangka is made for contemplation. At wearable scale, every contour, ornament, and field of color must remain legible within only a few centimeters.
This showcase introduces four signature subjects and the design language behind miniature thangka. The full-size paintings shown below are art-historical references; each eventual wearable piece is a separate, small-format interpretation.
Four subjects lead the collection — but they are only the beginning. The full range runs to dozens of subjects; browse the sample wall in the next section. Prices are being finalised and are confirmed by email for now.

A dedicated place for a verified Dzaki Lam artwork or studio photograph, preserving the subject’s identity without substituting a different deity.
A golden seated figure framed by jewel-like pattern, lotus forms, and finely articulated ornament.
A dark central form set within a complex architectural landscape, balancing intensity with a richly narrative setting.
The four signature subjects are a starting point, not the whole shelf. The range is planned in the dozens — Buddhas, Taras, protectors, and Jambhala forms — set in filigree, silver, copper, and turquoise-inlaid cases, on braided or beaded cords.
Please note: every image in this section is a display sample, created to show the breadth of subjects, case styles, and cords. They are not photographs of finished pieces in stock, and no prices are shown for them. When you enquire, the studio replies with photographs of actual finished pieces.

The name joins two words: the gau, the small case worn on the chest, and the heart it is carried close to — 心匣, “the case for the heart.”
HEART GAU is a small studio devoted to one format: the thangka painted at miniature scale and made to be worn. Rather than shrinking a wall painting, each piece is composed for its few centimeters from the first line — the subject’s posture, attributes, and expression resolved at the size they will actually be seen.
The subjects are drawn from Himalayan Buddhist iconography and painted by hand with natural mineral pigments, then set into a case that protects the painting through daily wear.
The founder’s own story — why this studio began, where the paintings are made, and the people behind them — will be written here in the founder’s words. This space is being held for it, not filled with invented history.
Thangka color begins as stone and plant. Natural minerals are selected by hand, then ground, washed, and refined through repeated stages until the pigment is fine, even, and saturated — the traditional preparation behind the depth of color in every miniature.
Natural mineral and plant materials are chosen by hand.
Raw material is broken down into small granules.
Ground repeatedly until the particles are fine and even.
Washed in clean water, again and again, to remove impurities.
The pigment settles naturally, then is collected and dried.
Finished pigment is sealed and stored, ready for painting.
Every color is the result of time and craftsmanship — prepared before a single line is drawn.
Miniature work is not simply a reduced image. It requires deliberate editing—preserving the subject’s defining geometry while keeping the hand visible.
Every HEART GAU piece is painted by hand in the studio — one painter, one miniature at a time. The artist’s own profile belongs here: their training, their years at the easel, and the subjects they are known for.
That profile will be published as soon as the studio provides it. Until then, this space is held for the real introduction rather than borrowed credentials — ask us by email and we will happily tell you about the painter behind a piece you are considering.
Profile to be filledOne thangka. One painting. Made only once.
Each piece is painted individually by hand, so the details — a contour, a gradient, an ornament — differ in every piece. The thangka you receive is the only one of its exact kind.
No printing and no transfer. From the first contour line to the final highlight, the miniature is built up stroke by stroke with hand-prepared mineral pigment.
Choose the subject, the case finish, and the cord that suit you. Dimensions and details are confirmed with the studio before painting begins, so the finished piece is the one you had in mind.
